Flash Fiction: Writing the Short-Short Story

Flash Fiction: Writing the Short-Short Story

Thursday, March 22, 2018 7-weeks; Thursday, March 22 through May 3; 6:30 to 8:45PM Webster Groves (exact location given upon registration) 260.00

In this workshop we’ll read stories written by masters of the form and discuss what it is that makes a work of flash fiction effective and why flash fiction so frequently experiments and unsettles. We’ll talk about compression and suggestion and the various techniques we might employ when working in miniature. Over the course of the workshop, writers will write and share several pieces of their own work and receive feedback from the instructor and other class members. Participants should bring one copy of a 750-word-or-less draft of a flash fiction piece to the first class. Class fee includes a copy of the book Sudden Fiction International: 60 Short-Short Stories. This workshop is limited to 8 participants. Instructor: Kim Lozano
