Practice giving and receiving constructive feedback? Whether your interests lie in learning more about screenwriting, playwriting, or other dramatic forms, this class will help you sharpen your storytelling skills through dialogue-intensive exercises and peer-critiqued workshops. We’ll learn about the differences among scriptwriting disciplines and discuss writing for different audiences as well as how character, voice, structure, tension, stakes, and comic timing align to produce action-driven dialogue. Course will culminate with submission tips and a dramatic reading of students’ short scripts for an audience. This workshop is for the developing scriptwriter, but is also good for fiction and creative nonfiction writers who are looking to sharpen their dialogue skills and explore new forms. Come ready to stretch your writing muscles! Students need not bring work to the first class. This 7-week workshop is limited to 8 participants; the final meeting will be a dramatic reading on May 16. Instructor: Tanya Seale
