Wild Writers: Environmental Writing for the Curious Novice

Wild Writers: Environmental Writing for the Curious Novice

Saturday, November 17, 2018 Saturday, November 17, 9AM-12NOON The Novel Neighbor, Webster Groves 55.00

Environmental writing isn’t always about trees and bees – it’s about engaging with your surroundings in deeper, slower, and more profound ways. In this class we’ll focus on how to build a sustainable environmental writing practice. Through meditation exercises and writing prompts we’ll explore the tools necessary for slowing down and giving attention to things we might take for granted (like those trees and bees). We’ll also read pieces that push us – as both readers and writers – towards unexpected associations and new perspectives. Students will receive a take-home packet of stories, as well as additional writing prompts to continue their practice of wild writing. This workshop, taught by Analeah Loschiavo Rosen, is limited to 8 participants.
